MODULE 2 A
spiritual Well-Being.
Striving to Live True Christian and Muslim Lives
My write up on this topic will be primarily focused on Christianity because that is the faith I have chosen.
Many of us love God and want to please him.
Our carnal minds are not allowing us to serve God in word and deed.
Many of us are striving to live true Christian lives but it is certainly not easy by our own strength.
I was a struggling Christian enslaved by a negative mindset programming and a destructive worrying habit.
A friend introduced me to Discipleship and that began my amazing walk with God.
Now, I have a personalised conversational relationship with God. I tap into God’s spiritual power and authority, align with God’s plan for my life, reprogram my mind (soul) to a more positive mindset, give my body what it requires for vibrant health, build healthy relationships and marriage, and tap into my innate resources to build my financial portfolio so I can meet my needs and also put smiles on the faces of the less privileged.
I strive to live in inner contentment, harmony, happiness, peace, humility, honesty, moderation, transparency, integrity compassion, empathy, passion, and impact.
My purpose now is to be a true Christian that will strive continuously to be an asset to my family community and society by God’s grace.
Another passion I have is to spread this good news of Discipleship.
The quality of our citizenship and leadership needs urgent improvement through spiritual rebirth so we can collectively improve our lives and our society.
The first secret of vibrant health and true success is Spiritual Well-being and the power of Faith.
Faith is the spiritual power through which the impossible becomes possible. Faith connects the human spirit to God.
To attain vibrant health, we need more than physical nourishment and money.
We all need spiritual nourishment as well.
Faith releases a force that can perform miracles.
The opposite of faith is worry, doubt, fear and anxiety. It is also important to state that faith without works is dead and worthless.
If there are any challenges in your life, you need to pray and have faith that the challenge will be solved but there are also actions that you may have to take as directed by God to achieve a resolution of the challenges.
God has made available to us all kinds of opportunities, information, and strategies that can turn our lives into positive successful lives.
We have to be committed to taking actions that will lead us to our God-ordained destinies.
Unfortunately, some churches preach instant healings, wealth, blissful marriages as soon as they pray for you.
In some cases, God may intervene with miracles but most often you may need to do your part to turn around any challenges, seeking God’s guidance as you go along, believing that when you ask, you shall receive, when you seek you shall find and when you knock, the door will be opened.
This truth is a demonstration that everyone has some degree of responsibility in life. You have to ask, seek and knock .
It is unintelligent to depend wholly on your doctor, pastor or imam to solve your problems.
You must look inwards and identify what you need to do to help your life become better.
Waking up every morning and deciding to read your Bible or Quaran and pray helps you cope better with the challenges of the day.
For me, if I make the mistake of stepping out without reading my bible and praying, my stress level will be higher and I will easily get overwhelmed with my daily challenges.
I am also of the opinion that most of the prayers we are asking God has already been answered. We just have to activate God’s prophecies in our lives by making empowering decisions in our spiritual, mental, emotional and physical lives. So that every day we are constantly improving all these areas of our lives so our lives can become the masterpieces ordained by God.
I think it is the lack of preaching balanced living that is partly responsible for so many ills in our society even though many of us are Christians and Muslims.
I believe this is the missing link, hence we should include studies on the principle of constant and never-ending improvement in our spiritual, mental, emotional and physical lives right from primary schools so our children will learn how to live balanced lives and turn out to be phenomenal children, adults, husbands, wives, and leaders.
We will then have a lot of people that have reached a stage of self-actualisation and of self -transcendence where they are more concerned about the value they will add to society instead of what they can acquire for themselves and their families.
People will become more patriotic and ask what they can do for Nigeria instead of what Nigeria can do for them.
Please do these positive affirmations below You will be feeding your brain with positive messages and your brain will obey.
You will find yourself being mostly in an empowering state of mind.
I sincerely care about your well-being.
Let us work with you to reduce our mortality and morbidity rates, the incidence of troubled marriages, financial lack, depression, and anxiety, drug addiction, alcoholism, get-rich quick-syndrome.
I pray that God keeps you to a ripe old age in vibrant healthand energy to live your best life.
Being spiritually connected has several benefits.
First, a spiritually healthy person lives a life of purpose. There is a joy that comes with the knowledge that one’s life is driven by a purpose. When you live a life of purpose, you are motivated to pursue and achieve your goals. You feel fulfilled as you live each day, learning to be calm, compassionate, forgiving, happy, self-accommodating, and accepting of your family and the community.
Also, spiritual well-being has a positive effect on your physical health. When you are conscious about your spirituality, it becomes easier to cope with stress or any challenge that life brings, and in return, you enjoy good physical health. People who are conscious of their spiritual well-being are more likely to make healthier choices essential to their physical well-being.
Furthermore, you connect more deeply with others when you are spiritually well because you are empathetic and tolerant toward others and their feelings. Through this, you can maintain strong relationships and build connections with people around you, creating a spirit of oneness in the community.
Overall, spiritual well-being improves your life through imbibing a healthy lifestyle, building great relationships, understanding your purpose and existence, and connecting yourself to a higher authority.
It contributes to other aspects of your well-being and is an essential attribute of Growth Mindset and integrative lifestyle.
Building a Solid Spiritual Foundation.
The pursuit of daily living has caused many individuals to lose sight of the essence of life, leading to an insatiable yearning for inner peace.
The value of cultivating a robust spiritual foundation has been overlooked, disregarding the profound impact it can have on one’s overall well-being.
This spiritual foundation encompasses beliefs, values, and principles that serve as guiding lights in our spiritual journeys. It revolves around nurturing our spiritual lives through dedicated practices that foster growth, connection, and harmony.
Today, some people attend church or mosque but do not follow the teachings of their religion. They claim to be Christians and Muslims but do not show faith in their words or actions. This set of people view religion as an obligation to please others and follow societal norms.
Consequently, their characters become flawed, lacking the spiritual values that should underpin their existence.
Thus, in churches and mosques, some people worship God or Allah to be blessed with material gifts like money, houses, cars, husbands, and children.
This should not be the case. Rather, we must build our spiritual lives by being intentional about our spiritual journey and nourishing our mind, body, and spirit with spiritual routines to build a solid foundation.
Even in the Bible, God said, ‘But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you’
A solid spiritual foundation enables you to embrace new perspectives, view life through a positive lens, build meaningful relationships, and channel your energy to the right things.
Through it, you allow values such as love, gratitude, harmony, humility, forgiveness, and inner peace to guide your daily life.
You can build your spiritual foundation through various practices. They include:
• Prayer
Prayer is the act of connecting to a higher being, that is, God. When you pray, you find comfort in the existence of God and His purpose for you on earth. Prayer empowers you to be compassionate, hopeful, sympathetic, empathetic, and focused.
Starting your day with prayer motivates your spirit with the strength to overcome the day’s hurdles.
• Reading Spiritual Books
Reading transforms the mind in several ways. The bible, Quran and other spiritual books grant you access to secrets penned down by great authors.
It takes you through their life’s journey, the blessings, challenges, and breakthroughs.
These books strengthen your faith and draw you closer to God.
They influence your thinking, behaviour, perception of life, and lifestyle as you transform your life into what you desire it to be. Also, spiritual books empower you with new knowledge, improve your vocabulary, and ease your mind.
To solidify your spirituality, you need to invest in spiritual books.
• Spiritual Community
If you want to nurture your spiritual life, you should associate with people who are intentional about their spirituality. Only then can you build and sustain your beliefs. A spiritual community comprises like-minded individuals with the same faith or beliefs. Such communities allow members to express their feelings, open up about life challenges, and seek assistance or advice from fellow community members.
Anyone who seeks to build a solid foundation must associate with a spiritual community to strengthen their beliefs and establish meaningful relationships.
• Embrace Gratitude
How often do you appreciate yourself? Most people dwell on the negative part of their lives, always complaining about the goals they failed to achieve while neglecting their positive accomplishments.
You must note that cultivating gratitude is essential to living a fulfilled life. Each day presents an opportunity to cheer yourself on and say well done.
If you desire to enjoy inner peace and contentment, you should celebrate your small wins. Be grateful for both blessings and challenges and constantly view setbacks as a cue to go the extra mile.
People who practise self-gratitude will most likely handle situations better and live a well-balanced life, so this is a call to embrace gratitude.
In conclusion, your spiritual life connects every aspect of your life – mental, physical, and emotional. A solid spiritual foundation enables you to understand the meaning of your existence, your beliefs, and your values. Just as a house cannot stand without a solid foundation, your life requires a strong spiritual foundation.
This principle is applicable in your personal life and encompasses your professional life and ethics. To curtail the level of moral decadence in society, it is also essential to begin the process of rebuilding your life and, ultimately, the society through a solid spiritual foundation.
