Tribute to my dear friend Hon. Justice Chinwe Iyizoba. By Ronke Ayuba
With a heavy heart, yet with gratitude to God for a life well lived, for our Lord, says, “in everything, give thanks”, I pay tribute to my dear friend of over forty years, retired Hon. Justice Chinwe Iyizoba, who joined the saints triumphant on Saturday the 31st of January 2026.
Both our husbands were very good friends and the minute we met, we got on like a house on fire. We were friends like sisters. We shared a lot in common.
Chinwe was truly a remarkable woman-beautiful both inside and out. She carried herself with grace, dignity, and warmth that drew people to her effortlessly. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her generosity touched countless lives. To know Chinwe, was to experience genuine friendship, unwavering loyalty, and a heart full of love.
She was, without question, one of the most wonderful hostesses one could ever encounter. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, comfort, delicious meals, and a sense of belonging.
In the mid 1980s, my children, other family members and I spent many Christmases with her and her family. These are memories that will remain some of the most cherished moments of my life. Those times reflected the closeness of our families, bound together not just by friendship, but by love.
Our families grew together, shared milestones, celebrated joys, and supported one another through life’s journey.
Chinwe was at the centre of so many of those beautiful memories—a steady, loving presence who made life richer for all of us.
Though our hearts are deeply saddened by her sudden passing, we take comfort in the thought that she has gone to be with her beloved father, her husband, Uncle Ossy, her dear mother, and her son, Ossy Junior, whose passing less than two years ago was such a painful loss.
We find solace in knowing that she is now reunited with them in eternal peace, and in a better place.
Though she is no longer with us, the legacy she left behind—of kindness, generosity, grace, and love—will continue to live on in our hearts.
